Tournament Backgammon RulesBackgammon has been raising in popularity recently and as with most online games, tournaments games are available to all. For players who have been playing the game for a while and feel that their backgammon skills are at the required level, backgammon tournaments might be a good way rise in skill further. For a player to play in a tournament, he must should know the special backgammon tournament rules.Backgammon tournaments use the same rules as regular backgammon for their game play, but a few other rules apply. Players may not use any mechanical devices, writing aids (except for score keeping) or headphones during match play. Tourament players must be punctual in ariving to the match. Some organisers are very strict regarding arival times. The matches generally start exactly on time and players are given a five minute break between games. When a player is takes more time to play than is agread apon, a reduction in points might me implemented. At first, a penalty of one point is given for the first 15 minute delay and an additional point for every five minute delay. A backgammon player can play at his own pace, but if he takes is time to much, he might be warned by the Tournament Director. If this dosn't stop penalty points are granted. Most backgammon competitions are monitored with timing devices, restricting moves to 45 seconds. All players’ entrance into the tournaments must be approved by the tour organizers. Sometimes, the money players pay to participate in the tournament, is later used as prizes for the winers. At the conclusion of all the matches, the points are counted up and the player with the most points is declared the winner. Tournaments that take place online will have very similar rules to those that take place at a land-based location, But the scoring is done automatically and the tournament is played through a remote gambling website. Tournaments are a wonderful way for players to interact socially with other like-minded players, and a great learning opportunity. Experienced gained and backgammon tricks learned during a tournaments, can be used later in normal play – both online and offline. Players not ready to compeete in backgammon tournaments sould keep playing backgammon online or offline, until they get better. As soon as the skill is improuved, tournaments will be an option. Before the tournament, one should play a lot, preferably online, to improuve one's skill.
