But not all books. Some of them, especialy the clasic ones, might still be here. Clasical books like that, sometimes hold information that is not found online. This is the case with backgammon books.
Backgammon books are a great way to improve your backgammon skills when you are not busy playing the game. If you read tips and strategies written in backgammon books, you might get different perspectives to the game and even find new ways of playing it, that perhaps you would never have thought about.
Backgammon books can be divided into three levels. Introductory backgammon books are designed for players that need to lear the very basics of the game. Intermediat level backgammon books are for intermediate players who know the basic rules but feel they want to impruve their gaming skill. Pleayers reading those books are the ones that end up inpruving their game skill. Books for advanced players are for those who have been around long enough to write basic books themselves! In order to grasp the knoladge of this kind of book, one needs to have a deep understanding of basic and intermediate backgammon consept.
Oswald Jacoby and John R. Crawford wrote one of the best introductory book - The Backgammon Book. It has turn into a clasic, mainly because of the fact that both writers were top top players. This book is an excellent starting point that explains the basics backgammon game mechanics, with part about backgammon history, etiquette, settlements and backgammon tournament information. Another greate book designed for the beginer backgammon player, is “Backgammon for Winners” by Bill Robertie. Published in 2002, this book provides good overview of the backgammon game and provides plenty of samples.
A classic book for the intermediate player is Walter Trice’s “Backgammon Book Camp”. This book is a must read for serious backgammon players and takes the readers through the game’s basics in an advanced way. It covers a wide range of topics, but is still quite detailed.
Bill Robertie also published in 2001 “Modern Backgammon”. In this book, Bill Robertie focuses on skills and strategies that can be learnt from backgammon backgammon game. It takes the skill guide of the game one step further into the modern computer generation.
